Mark 15 1 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. We know these kenites are evil and here for a purpose. The chief priests and scribes are doing the devils work but our Fathers allowing it for you and me to have Life everlasting. Christ Jesus would be the last sacrifice for all time. They are falsifying charges against Christ because The Truth torments them. The popularity of Christ Jesus takes the attention from them. They twist Scripture and Gods laws even today. They lust for Christ death and they reject Truth just like their "father" the devil. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.
Christ answers, "Thou sayest it" meaning that he never said it, Pilate did. 3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
They’re full of lies in the attempt to destroyChrist. Christ knows His purpose. It's for you! Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.
4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
Pilate doesn't understand why Christ doesn't have anything to say about the allegations against Him.
5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
6 Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
This day would be the high Sabbath of the Passover. Customary one prisoner would be released to please the people. A tactic to quell any anger Israel may have against Rome.
7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
Barabbas was a thorn in the side of Rome. He murdered and stole from them and pretty much anyone that got in his way. He does the work of satan. Pilate chooses Barabbas a murderer and Christ a healer and one who shows love thinking the crowd would surly give Christ His freedom against such a evil man as Barabbas.
8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
The crowd desires Pilate do as he has done prier. Bring two before them that they may choose one to free.
9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? Pilate attempts using the control the church has over the people by giving them "the King of the Jews" against someone who is willing to murder his own people. He believes they would want Christ because Pilate knows what effect Christ has had on the control of the churches. The people have been listening to Christ more than the priest.
10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
Pilate knew the chief priests are jealous.
11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
The chief priests sway the crowd in his direction. Free Barabbas, a ruthless murderer, instead of one who has done nothing wrong. The crowd will follow when most around them go in a certain direction. Most want to feel like they're on the winning side. Regardless if they follow evil.
12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
Knowing the innocence of Christ, Pilate gives them a voice in what to do with Christ Jesus.
13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.
14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
You had better believe Pilate knew everything that went on around him and he knew the good works Christ had been doing. He doesn't understand the crowd’s reaction.
15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
He must follow customs, so he turns Christ over to the Roman soldiers. Before a Roman prisoner's crucifixion it was customary to whip the prisoner. Pilate had little choice in the matter. He had given it to the people to decide.
16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
They took Christ and called the other soldiers who were under Pilate where they all gathered in a courtroom or large open court hall. Praetorium - praitṓrion, prahee-to'-ree-on; of Latin origin; the prætorium or governor's courtroom (sometimes including the whole edifice and camp):—(common, judgment) hall (of judgment), palace, prætorium.
17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
They're mocking Christ.
18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
Their mockery continued in stupidity and ignorance. Christ is King of the Jews because He is King of kings.
19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
While they had their evil games tormenting our Lord He suffered.
20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
Simon was ordered to carry the cross Christ was to be crucified on up Golgotha hill.
22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
The Christian world calls this "Calvary Hill".
23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
They attempted to drug Christ with this concoction but our Lord refuses their attempts.
24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
Word sent by God to David one thousand years before it would take place, recorded in Psalms 22:18 "They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture." The High Priest's would use a form of this "casting lots" using the Urim and Thummim in rendering a decision from God. Well these soldiers are doing something similar but for pieces of Christ Jesus clothing. Crucifying someone is nothing but a game to them. Little do they know this wasn't just anyone. This was Jesus Yhasha, YHVH Savior, The Christ - The Anointed One.
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
The day before Passover on "the third hour" being 9am. Christ was placed on the cross.
26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Ruthless and evil in every action they continue to mock Him even when He never said He was. They put a sign over Him. Christ can't just be King of the Jews when He is King of us all.
27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
One would be forgiven right there next to Christ while the three hung on the crosses. He didn't need to take a bath to be forgiven. The blood of Christ washes away our sins. His sacrifice frees us from the flesh. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, "Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with Me in paradise.
28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
This is in reference to Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
As people walk by, they mock Him. They heard what Christ had said in John 2:19 but the chief priests, elders, and all the council, sought false witnesses against Jesus and found two to lie for them. Matthew 26:59-61 59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; 60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, 61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. What Christ did say was, John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
They continue mocking Him and His works. Christ healed many right before their eyes. He saved so many and by His blood we are saved today, [IF] you accept that sacrifice He gave for you. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. CONDITIONS! “Confess and believe" in Christ and those things He did for you. Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The intellect of your mind/heart is where your soul lives. We confess our sins in the belief Christ defeated death-satan, giving us life everlasting. John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: This is immediately, both physically and spiritually, our Souls are made new in Him. Fleshly, in our daily walk, we are made alive, confident in the fact we have been given life eternal. He died for us that we may live today and forever. The condition here and throughout is "belief in Him and what He has done".
31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
Remember one spoke out and said Christ was innocent. Luke 23:39-43 39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
At twelve noon the day became night. Darkness covered the whole area. From twelve to three. 3pm was when the daily sacrifice took place. Christ Jesus the last sacrifice for all time. Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 3 = Resurrection and 12 = Governmental Perfection. (3 - Resurrection: He is The Way -1 The Truth - 2 The Life - 3) 3 hours of darkness Christ arose on the third day. Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 12 - Government by Divine Appointment: Matthew 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Christ was teaching us until His soul left this flesh. He wasn't asking our Father but teaching us what was foretold long before. This is but a little. Please study the whole of Psalms 22. Psalms 22:1-15 1 (To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.) My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. 7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. 9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. 10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. 11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
They thought Christ was calling for Elijah the prophet.
36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
I doubt just anyone could get away with doing this in front of the soldiers. This man has compassion and probably a soldier because of what he was doing. He went and filled this sponge with vinegar also known as a mixture of sour wine and water called posca; an ordinary drink for Roman soldiers. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the spirit.
37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
This verse is why I felt lead by our Father to name this ministry "Open Veil Ministry" and feel very blessed with those who are part of it. This veil divided the gentiles from the priests and the prayers to be sent to God. It was rent or torn open that all may enter in today. You don't need a priest, God hears you. By the customs a priests would stand at this veil at 3pm each day. The one who stood there was at the time was the chief priest Caiaphus, the same priest that demanded Jesus death.
39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the spirit, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. This ranking Roman soldier had no doubts who Christ was when he saw Christ die on that cross, felt the ground shake renting the veil and the sky coming back to light. Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Two meanings! First, fear of dying and second, fear of the devil. Christ defeated both on the cross. When you give up your flesh and the fear of satan you can have peace physically and spiritually. God doesn't want you to have fear or sadness. He wants you to give your worry over to Him and enjoy the life He has given you through Christ and His Word. Why waste what you could have EVERYDAY! PEACE OF MIND 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 1 Cor. 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? Christ Jesus defeated death at the cross; Christ Jesus is The Only Way to victory.
40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
Followers of our Lord Christ Jesus.
41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
They followed Him everywhere. When Christ and His disciples were in Galilee, they took care of them. More women heard of Christ throughout the land and ministered to them when they were in Jerusalem.
42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
Before the "high Sabbath" or Passover there was a time of preparation before the sun sets. When the sun sets it was a new day and this day was to be our Passover. This day of the week was on a Wednesday. 1 Cor. 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Christ isn't our "easter" = a pagan god, but is our "Passover" where we see as that day Christ Jesus died on the cross for the sins. Passover, Pascha, pas'-khah; The Passover, (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it):
43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
Joseph of Arimathaea was the kinsman redeemer, uncle of Jesus through His mother’s family. Joseph of Arimathaea retains the right for Christ Jesus body to give Him a proper burial.
44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
Pilate questions Joseph's word of Christs' death so he calls for confirmation from the ranking solider at the cross of Christ.
45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
Joseph took care of the body of Christ. Giving Him what only the wealthy would have during a burial. The tomb carved out of the side of a hill made of stone and a very large and heavy stone made as a door pushed over the opening completely covering the opening.
47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
Joseph and these two who loved Christ Jesus deeply followed Christ to His burial. No one else was found there but them.
