John 14

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Stop worrying! If you believe in God and you believe in Christ, you have nothing to worry about.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

"mansions" = μονή monḗ, mon-ay'; from G3306; a staying, i.e. residence (the act or the place):—abode, mansion, a staying, abiding, dwelling, abode.  God created the universe and we will have access to all His creation in the end. Evil is gone and His many mansions are accessible to us.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Christ is coming back for good. He brings with Him all those that have died before His return. He's coming to receive those who are left and accept Him. In NO WAY is there a rapture! That's the teachings of satan. Christ Jesus is coming to stay! Ref. 2 Thess. Ch.2; study it! We have been warned by God.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

He has been telling them what was to come with His death and resurrection.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

Have you ever taught someone something and after all you gave, they still doubt? You know this upset Christ. After all He had been teaching them, He is The Light, The Way and The door, but Thomas still questions Him.

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christ Jesus lays it on the line. There is NO other way. Not one! If there was, He died for nothing. If all you had to do was take a bath, His sacrifice, His blood, His life meant nothing. Many pick and chose parts they want to follow in His Word and by doing so, make void to them the whole thing. Christ gave His all, that we receive Him whole. He is The Only WayDo you study ALL His Word or do you pick up bits and pieces from people or "pastors"? Christ gave, that we may have life, don't waste it, study His Word, receive His gift.  Proverbs 12:11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

We saw in John 10:30 Christ told us; " I and my Father are one" and In verse 9 of this Chapter, Christ lets Philip know, "he that hath seen me hath seen the Father".

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Christ is in The Father, The Father is Him and The Holy Spirit dwells in in Him. Do you Believe?

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

They've seen the miracles He performed right before their eyes. If they can't believe He and The Father are One, than they should believe in the work they've seen Him do. By believing in those miracles, they should believe in Him.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

A Christian is to be Christ like in every way. He showed us through His Word and actions. Do you want to glorify God? Do as Christ has shown you to do. Our Father will bless you in every way to see it gets done. Worry for nothing, fight the good fight.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

God will use you to get things done. If you are one of His, blessings will flow and His will be done by which He is glorified through you and your works. When others see Christ in you, souls will hunger for that peace you have. When souls seek Christ, God is glorified.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

[ IF ] = condition, but don't make it hard, it's truly that simple, [ IF ] you believe in Him.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

[ IF ] = Condition and don't make any mistake about this fact. A Christian follows Christ and should be the best Christian they can be. This is accomplished by following His examples and doing everything He has told us to do; "keep my commandments".

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

The Holy Spirit is our Comforter. When you study Gods Word, The Holy Spirit gives you the understandings you need and with that come true peace in knowing the love, wisdom, power and truth He has for you to overcome this flesh. "Comforter" = παράκλητος paráklētos, par-ak'-lay-tos; an intercessor, consoler:—advocate, comforter. The Holy Spirit destined to take the place of Christ with the apostles (after his ascension to the Father), to lead them to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth and give them divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom.  "abide" = μένω ménō, men'-o; a primary verb; to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy):—abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), to continue to be, not to perish, to last, endure.

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The Holy Spirit dwells or abides with you. I know He does because you care enough to study His Word. You care enough to seek The Truth in an evil world. You want to be separate from them and one with The Lord. And God says, "He shall be in you".

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

The worldly reject Him and are walking dead, but those that accept Him, see Him and "because He lives, we shall live also."

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

After Christ ascends into heaven, it will be very clear to them.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

See the condition here? Do you know the commandments of Christ and keep them? What's the opposite of love? Do you want to be loved? Do you care enough to seek The Truth and follow it or do you hate The Truth so you make your own up. You should know by now, if you want respect, you show respect. If you want love, you show love. God isn't going to force anyone to love Him, that's not true love. He isn't going to bless you if you refuse His blessings, The Word, Christ Jesus and The comforter, The Holy Spirit.

22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

Why won't the world see Him? Because they love the world over The Truth. There are even those that call themselves "Christians" that won't see Him. They think it's a game.

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

The Word gives peace of mind and if you follow Him, His Word and His ways He will send His Spirit, His Comfort. We will abode in Him, living in the world with peace of mind and comfort in knowing, He is with you.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

This isn't a game folks! God's Word is The Manual for this life. If you [chose] not to study it, you chose to ignore God and He will ignore you. [IF] you love God, you study His letter to you, you then live according to The Way He has told you to live.

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Anyone can say they'll teach you The Word of God and a few know it well, but ONLY The Holy Spirit can give you the understand of what's being taught. If you're lucky enough to have a good pastor, The Holy Spirit will let you know if they're teaching The Truth. You must study and The Holy Spirit will open all things to you.

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

When you know you're safe in The Hands of God and you know the events that are about to come and where your soul will be in the end, you can't help but have peace of mind. Nothing of this world can do that, NOTHING!  John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  Stop worrying! If you believe in God and you believe in Christ, you have nothing to worry about. Stop your fear!

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

They should be happy because Christ Jesus goes to prepare a place for them and He will come again. God is great and has given us The Way. Do you have eyes to see and ears to hear The Truth today?

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

Because Christ told them what was to become of Him, when they see it happen, they should believe everything He has told them. When He is crucified on that cross and rises on that third day, they should have no doubts about anything they've been told.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Without Christ in you, the prince of this world will fill that void; his spirit will trick you into believing false doctrines, conforming to political correctness, educating you in lies for truth, placing you into bondage's of religions. Most don't even know they follow his religions. That's ANYTHING other than Christ Jesus people.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

God told Christ to do the things He did and by doing them showed He loves The Father. It's for us as an example today. Do you follow Christ and thereby follow God? If so, you're showing your love to Him. "Arise" and get to it!
