1 Corinthians 10

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

Don't forget, when Israel came out of Egypt and evil was after them, The Holy Spirit was over them as they came upon the Red Sea and they passed right through it.

2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

They entered into The Spirit as they entered into the sea. The LORD was with them.

3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

They all had angels food while on their journey to the promise land, that manna from heaven. God provides!

4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

They carried with them Jacob's pillar, his stone in which water flowed, but they spiritually carry The Truth which is Christ and where the water of life flows. Ref. to Jacob's pillar - Genesis 28. The living water: John 4:9-14 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.  10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.  11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?  12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?  13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:  14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.  John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

They rejected The Truth that they had just witnessed. They reject God and decided to create their own way, their own god and their own salvation. Nothing new, look around today. Even the churches have created their own ways, rejecting The Truth. They've even created a ride out of here when things get too tough for them to handle the tribulation of satan. Little do they know, they're not going anywhere.

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

The whole Word is for us today. God has given us examples within the [if's] or conditions of His Word. Everything we need to know has been written. "Exsamples" Greek word "tupos", #5179 "a sample, or type; i.e. a model for imitation, a fashion, for manner, or form." Paul states the Old Testament holds the events of the prophets which are examples for us today.

7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

They're idolaters because while they think they are worshiping God in their actions, they go against Him. The burnt offerings are to the calf, not to God. They immediately go their own way. Referencing Exodus 32:4-8  4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.  5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord.  6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.  7 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:  8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

satan is hard at work and if you don't stay focused in Truth, lies will take you. Very few give time to our Father in His Word and because of that, they're sadly fooled by what they're [told] is of God.

9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

These "serpents" are of the serpent which is to say satan. They're known as kenites. Ref. - John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  His child was Cain, "a murderer from the beginning" and through that bloodline the kenites were born. We can see satans works, it's to fool you. Way too many are lost in the ways of God compared to the ways of satan. Look how many believe it's ok to be gay in the Christian community. They want to say instead, "who am I to judge" and by doing so allow it. Where's the salt?  Luke 14:34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?   Void of the Word, void of Truth when it's needed. Christ tells us we must be a little salty or it's not going to taste right.

10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Yet another one of satans names, "the destroyer" is coming once again to destroy. And while many wait on Christ, the destroyer will show up instead. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4  1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,       2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter [1 Thess.4] as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; = that is satan de facto. 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. We see here satan comes first claiming he is Christ but is in fact the "instead" of Christ. Don't destroy yourself! You really need to study this. Many have already been "taken" and don't know it.

11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

This life isn't a game! We are here to see who is in the garden in the end. Do you want evil around forever? That's the purpose! We have been given a letter to let us know how to live. Have you read it? Everything we need to know is within it's pages.

12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Where do you make your stand? Do you even know what is of satan or of God? Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Are you ready for battle against evil?  Ephesians 6:10-19  10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;  19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Everyday is a battle, we are at war after all. You and I aren't going through anything that others haven't already gone through. The only difference might be, do you and them have The Lord in your heart? Do you have the Gospel Armor on? God doesn't give anyone more than they can handle, so don't ever make up excuses not to fight the good fight. Christians ARE can do children of God.

14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

This idolatry are those lies. The fakes, traditionalist, those that reject The Truth. Get away from them, flee from idolatry.

15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

Paul's saying, A word to the wise, listen up.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

They did this as we do, in remembrance of what Christ did for us all on the cross.

17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

We sit at the communion table of Christ as believers. Unified in Truth, one body in Christ Jesus.

18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

Communion is like it was for those Israelites and their sacrifices. They could partake of what was given at the altar by the Levitical priest.

19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

There is a difference. We aren't to worship or sacrifice things to evil.  Leviticus 26:1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.

20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

Let those evil people have their religious ceremony. We shouldn't have anything to do with either of them, the people or the event. Be careful, many so-called churches worship devils these days. You should be wise enough to know the difference.

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

You're a Christian or of satan. You can't be both! Christ Jesus and satan don't sit at the same table, so don't think for a second that you can either.

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

As a Christian, make sure your actions don't hinder the example for those eyes around you. You may know you can do something, but they believe you can't. Wait until they leave before you do whatever it is. Don't cause them to fall.

24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

Don't be greedy. When you see others in need, that's the time to show them Christ and help them in every way you can.

25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Meat is just that to a Christian, it's just meat. It doesn't matter if someone wants it for their idol worship sacrifice, it's still meat to us. "Shambles" = Greek word # G3111μάκελλον mákellon, mak'-el-lon; of Latin origin (macellum); a butcher's stall, meat market or provision-shop:—shambles.

26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

Everything is Gods and He made it for His purpose.

27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

As a Christian, eat whats laid before you. Offered for idols, has no concern for you if you're not told. It's just food.

28 But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

Here it lays out the fact that they tell you it's given to their idols. If that's the purpose given, then we shouldn't touch it. You would be showing approval of their actions and beliefs if you ate it.

29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

We have all been given free will and by so we should be careful with those lacking knowledge or strength in their walk. Be as tactful as possible so they won't fall, but see Christ in you.

30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

You should know by now, those unlearned of The Word will hate you just as much as those that reject it all together. It shouldn't change that fact, you thank our Father for what He lays before you.  Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

A guest acts like a guest. They don't go into someone's home and show themselves.

33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

There is a time and place for everything. When the opportunity comes to plant The Truth, God will see it happens. We can't force it, nor should we try. Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
