2 Timothy 2
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
There is but One that can give you TRUE strength with the favor He has given us. Christ Jesus Yahshua †
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Would you keep something that could lead others out of bondage? Of course not! Then let everyone know about The Truth of God.
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
A good soldier will take blows and keep fighting. You will have others attack you because you teach Truth, but there are always some wanting to hear it. There are a few that hunger for The Word and a good soldier is there to lead them to His Word in this evil twisted world.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Don't let the world creep into your life, as it will destroy your spirit. Keep an eye on those things as a watchmen should, just don't let it take your joy. When you understand the who, what, when and where you have knowledge and the wisdom needed to fight the good fight. Seeing why things are the way they are should bring joy, not despair. You should know God is in control and these things must be. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 2 Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. 2 Thessalonians 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 1 Peter 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
You can study and study, unless you follow what you say and do what God has declared righteous, you will not be part of the reward in the end.
6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
The "husbandman" is the farmer. They reap the reward of the work. The analogy, do the work of God and fight the good fight and you will be blessed. There is NO gender in this when you look past the flesh and into the spiritual side.
7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
When we put ALL THE WORD together has a whole, The full message will be uncovered. The Word of God IS The Manual for life after all.
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
"My gospel"= Gospel that Paul was preaching. It was given by God to the prophets. This "Seed of David" = The Key of David and it goes all the way back to the garden.
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
The world can place me and you in captivity just as it did Paul in prison, but its impossible to place The Word of God into captivity.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
Paul was a can do Christian and by being that True Christian he endured things while writing down the words of Christ and what He had done to show us The Way.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
When we are dead of the things of the world, we are alive in Christ. Want to understand more of Gods Word? Erase your mind of the fleshly way of thinking.
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
It's that simple! Re-Read it and have it sink in good. Things will happen in life and He showed us how to handle it. Deny Him, He isn't going to waste His time. As a Pastor, I won't waste my time with those that refuse The Truth either. So many are turning away from God today, because they would rather live of the world. They don't want to follow the things of God and don't want to be held accountable. Well they are going to be held accountable anyway. You can turn and run, but God knows where you are and what you are doing. Do you really think He didn't know where Adam was in the garden? Do you really think He didn't know what he had done?
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
"Believe" should read "are faithless" so if we are faithless it won't count what He has said. His Word is the only thing that holds true. He will do what He says! God is just and gives everyone a chance, but if you refuse Him, He isn't going to just brush it off. Heaven will be such a wonderful place because there will not be any evil in it. The choice is ours as to if we want to be a part of it.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
Does this ever happen in the churches of today. There is so much sugar in the church, people walk around with nothing but milk to feed their ears. That little bit of milk is mixed with nothing but humans words making it a mash of nothingness. People come out of the churches looking good in their clothes, getting into their expensive cars to roll down the road felling good about themselves. If you leave your church feeling and wanting to change for Christ everyday you have just walked out of a good church of God. Traditions and murmurings of humans make void The Word of God.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Some wait for others to tell them what to believe. This isn't how to be approved by God. You had better do the work yourself. Don't ever take someones word for something. Mine or your "pastors". You seek The Truth, getting into The Word for yourself.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
When you begin to let the world in, it will take over of your morals. This is why so many fall from The Faith. Stay in The Word every day, fight the good fight!
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
"Canker" - Greek is "gangraina", English = translation = "gangrene". It will start innocent and can spread, it won't take long until it spreads throughout your body killing you. "Profane and vain" words are like gangrene in your church and to God's Word. If it is aloud, it will overtake your whole church and the people will be mislead. It's everywhere today. Most churches are on this path or already there. Would you know the difference? Have you taken the time to study for yourself? Remember, 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
Most "pastors" today haven't got a clue what The Word says. They follow a denominations doctrine sent to them from an organization. They say, "you don't have to worry about the book of Revelations, you won't be here" but they lie or are ignorant to God's Word. They tell you, "you must be baptized to be saved" but reject the blood of Christ on the cross, making it of none affect. They don't give any time to study, just to give you a few verses in your "church" and a show to pass the plate.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
[IF] you are a Christian, you will separate yourself from evil. That's those that follow satan and the actions you were once in with them. [IF] you're going to follow Christ, you must study the things of Christ. You can't just go to a church and say you a Christian.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
"Great house" = the church, and within it are those that follow the things of God and there are those that are there for flesh gain. Paul is letting us know that some will be purified in the fire with their works being good and some will just be burned to ash. Refined into pure gold they followed those things of God. They loved The Lord and hated the world. We are here to fight the good fight. To show those things we have been given. To help others out of the world we were once in. True love is showing others Christ.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
If you're not following the things of God, you have no "honour" nor "sanctified" use for Gods good works.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
It's time to grow up! It's time to leave those worldly things behind and have the peace God wants you to have. Get rid of those that follow evil. Do The Lords work. We are to have those that follow God in our lives and those that don't, we must look upon with reject. "Flee" = turn from, "with them" = those that follow God = Christians.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
When they say and do the things of the world, walk away. Don't folly in their foolishness. I have been told recently by evil, " You don't represent a Christianity I could ever follow." They follow buddha and reject God to begin with. Don't ever waste your time with such as these.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
Don't waste your time with those that look for evil communication. Tell them God is waiting and move on to those that hunger for Truth. They are waiting! If you give time to those looking to fight with what you offer, you will not have time for those that hunger to know The Truth of God. Leave them with a seed that may stir their minds to come to The Lord.
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
We are humble enough to say, "We where there once ourselves and God blessed us showing us The Way out of the world". Let them know they don't need be in bondage anymore.
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
With humble instruction, being patient to those in need, you can help bring their soul to The Truth. Fight the good fight! Don't be a door mat. Give to those that you see will be acceptable, but don't argue with those looking for a fight. This world age is evil. Today more than since the days of Noe = Noah. Always have your door open for when they are ready. Always be that example of Christ. A Christian is Christ like. They are ready to give of themselves, to lay down their live for another. They don't put up with evil! They will speak and let others know the evil they're following. They hold to The Word of God.
