John 5

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

"Bethesda" = †Βηθεσδά Bēthesdá, bay-thes-dah'; of Chaldee origin (compare H1004 and H2617); house of kindness; Beth-esda, a pool in Jerusalem:—Bethesda, "house of mercy" or "flowing water". The biblical numeric # for 5 is grace.

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

All these people are at this pool in the believe the waters movement would hear them. They've been sold a superstitious movement from traditions of men. Nothing new today if you look around at some "Christian churches" and the religions of the world.

4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

This is what the people believed and in no way was it true.

5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

He was enslaved to his illness for 38 years. The biblical numeric # for 38 is slavery.

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

Christ is asking him if he wants to be healed.

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

The people seem to be lining up for this superstitious tradition. So much so, this man can't drag himself into the pool.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Two things here: first, the man was told to get up, get your stuff and go and the man did just that. It was as though he wasn't ill for those 38 years. His healing was total and complete. Imagine not being able to walk for that long a period of time. You would be stiff, but not even in slow motion, this man got up at walked away. Second It was done on the sabbath.

10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

Legalism at its finest. These kenites snap right into action. Forget the fact they've seen this man enslaved to his illness for 38 years is now completely healed. They are stuck in traditions of humans. It's from the law of the Talmud, Sabbath 2b; pay attention to 9-11.

                                                                                          Talmud - Mas. Shabbath 2b
                                Here, since the Sabbath is the main theme, [both] principal [forms of labour] and derivatives are taught;

4 But there, since the main theme is not the Sabbath, principal labours only are taught, but not derivatives. What are the principal                                    labours? — carryings out! But the carryings out are only two?

5 And should you answer, some of these involve liability, and some do not involve liability

6 Surely it is taught on a par with the appearances of leprosy: just as there all involve liability,

                    7 So here too all involve liability?-Rather said R. Papa: here that the Sabbath is the main theme, acts of liability and non-liability are                               taught;

8 There, since the Sabbath is not the main theme, only acts of liability are taught, but not of exemptions.

9 Now, what are the cases of liability-carryings out? But the carryings out are [only] two?

10 There are two forms of carrying out and two of carrying in. But ‘carryings out’ are taught?-Said R. Ashi: The Tanna designates                                     carrying in’ too as ‘carrying out.’

11 How do you know it? — Because we learn: If one carries out [an object] from one domain to another, he is liable. Does this not mean                          even if he carries [it] in from the public to a private domain, and yet it is called ‘carrying out.’ And what is the reason? — Every                                  removal of an article from its place the Tanna designates ‘carrying out.’

11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

These kenites want to know who gave that kind of authority to go against [their law].

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

Christ healed this one man and left.

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Let's look at this spiritually. Christ heals us through His blood, His sacrifice, His death on that cross. We repent in His name and from that point on, we are to seek His Ways. We shouldn't go back to that pool, looking to those traditions of humans. Christianity isn't a game. Christian means to be Christ like. To seek His way, not humans. If we are going to claim to be a Christian, we should study His Word to know how.

15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

Understand these "Jews" spoken of here only means "those that resided in the land of Judaea".

16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

They want Christ dead because Christ didn't follow [their tradition].

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

God works EVERYDAY. If you believe there isn't work to be done every day, you're not paying attention to what's going on in the world. We're at war folks. Evil doesn't take a break and you had better not either.

18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

The Truth, The Way, The Messiah threatens their traditions, so they're out for His blood. These "Jews" = kenites aren't even followers of God, but works of satan. They are after all, of him and the offspring of Cain.

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

What The Father does, The Son will do, and this is because they are One in the same.  John 10:30 I and my Father are one.  John 14:6-10  6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.  8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.  9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?  10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

Christ has the power of God because He is God. If they think healing that man was a miracle, they haven't seen anything yet. Just as the way of the world today, what they'll see, they'll still question Who He is.

21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

Christ will raise the dead just like God does, with whom He wants to raise. We will see this with Lazarus, in John 11.

22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

Christ is the measure in which we all will be judged. Christ paid the price on the cross so as the office of the Son, He has the right to judge. He set The Path for us to take and if we refuse it, we deserve what He gives us. He gave so much. Why, if you're calling yourself a Christian, would you refuse His Words, He Ways, His sacrifice for you. Judgments coming and reward or punishment comes with it. It's ours to choose. He was sent for a reason, I choose Christ Jesus Yahshua

23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

IF... you believe in God, you believe in Christ and the reason He came. You then repent and study His Word. You live a life that brings you to eternity and through it. That 7th trump is going to sound and your decision for this age will have been final. IF.....you haven't made that change yet, today should be that day. Accept Him and make that change.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

Christ is calling attention to the fact He is about to die of this flesh but not be dead. That He is about to enter into His Spiritual body and with it, He will be going to all those that have died before Him. Giving what we have heard, that He is The Way to life everlasting.  1 Peter 3:18-20  18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:  19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;  20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Our Father created it, Christ Jesus is The Way to keep it.

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

Again, 1 Peter 3:18-20

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Receive Christ that resurrection of life, reward. Refuse Christ, and resurrection of damnation, punishment. Not one people that has followed Christ, should want evil in heaven. It doesn't matter who they were to you. Evil can't be in eternity. I myself would rather be put to fire, than harm what was made for good. 1 John 2:17 And the world [age] passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Christ does exactly as The Father wills. Christ is The Measure in which we are to live, to follow, to life. He gave, He judges.  Galatians 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:  2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  1 John 2:17 And the world [age] passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

That is why John the Baptist came first. If Christ had come without anyone else saying He is The Son of God, they wouldn't have believed Him. Luke 1:17 And He shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.  John even knowing before the fact. He knew Christ was there while in the womb of his mother.  Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit:

32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

John the Baptist

33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

Everyone listened when John spoke God's Word and of Christ Jesus coming. They were open to hearing John speak.

34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

John spoke those things had been taught from humans mouths, handed down through The Word of God. Christ speaks what The Father says to say because He Is of God. Christ tells them The Truth, in hopes they listen, following Christ, being saved in Christ.

35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

John spoke The Truth and in it was light, wisdom. That light he gave, you accepted for awhile.

36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

The things Christ has done, tells us Who He is. He IS God our Saviour, and Lord Christ Jesus. God sent Him and He finished it on the cross.

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

They hadn't seen God, but knew of Christ's coming. Ref. Isaiah 53

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

Although they had been told of His coming through The Word, they have turned from The Word. They've rewritten His Word into what they wanted it to be. Sound familiar? It should! Have you ever done a parallel study of "bibles" written today? Just for starters, Take your King James Bible and compare it to the niv. Look up Matthew 18:11. No Excuses! Have you gone to your "church" and been fed The Word of God, Chapter by Chapter, verse by verse, or is it a few verses and a show? Do you understand what is about to happen? Do you know [WHO] comes first? I can't elaborate this verse enough, this is a nicety of detail.  2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Christ is telling them, search the scriptures and you will see it's not the scriptures that save you, but Me. Christ is The Only Way to have eternal life, THE ONLY WAY!

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

They refuse The Word and Him.

41 I receive not honour from men.

Christ doesn't seek approval from humans. As Christians we're not here to have anyone like you, we're here to serve God. If people like you, that's just a bonus. When it comes down to it, we are here to please God. We're created for His pleasure. Are you pleasing Him or people? Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  Most churches have fallen. They want to put on a good show for you. They don't have time to do the work necessary in order to bring you to The Truth. They want to make money and build the biggest church they can. They can't do that in their eyes, unless they conform to what the people think they want. This is why God only finds favor in two kinds of Churches. You can read of that fact in The Book of Revelation.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

They claim to be of God, but these kenites can't fool Christ. Evil can't fool those who know The Truth. They'll accept anyone that is willing to conform to what they want you to believe, but not Christ Jesus or those who hold to The Truth.  Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Look around! This is everywhere and in everything.

44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Just looking to please the crowds and reject The Truth. The whole world has got to this same state. These kenites have been pushing this since the beginning. Today, you had better be ready, you had better know the difference.  2 Timothy 3:1-7  1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,  7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

The first prophecy was given in The Torah, and these kenites know of it. They've been talking about it since the beginning and it's even about them. Genesis 3:15 And I [God] will put enmity [division] between thee [Satan] and the woman [Eve], and between thy seed [the Kenites] and her seed Christ Jesus]; It [Christ] shall bruise thy [satan's] head, and thou [satan] shalt bruise His [Christ's] heel.  The Torah תּוֹרָה, or the Pentateuch, is the first five books of the twenty-four books of the Bible or Tanakh

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

They don't see the events of The Torah taking place before them, they're not going to see Who stands and speaks to them. Their evil is blinding them.
