1 Timothy 6
1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
If whom you work for isn't a Christian, be that one who sets the example for them to see Christ in you.
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
This is in relation to working with another Christian.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
Paul is telling Timothy that just because someone says they're Christian doesn't mean they follow the things of God. Look how many believe it's ok to be gay. They call themselves "Christian" while refusing The Truth. They claim to be "Christian" while supporting those that murder those in the womb, etc.
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
Many profess to be "Christian" but when a minister doesn't make a stand against those things that God teaches against, he is not of God, but a hireling. I'm told "you will never lead others to Christ with what you say", well they don't want Christ because they don't want The Truth of His Word. They love those sugar coated pastors though. I don't want someone to follow what I say, I want them to check out what Christ says about what I say. Then He will speak to them.
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
These types of people relate everything to money and they relate money to being godly. RUN! Paul is telling Timothy that if he sees someone that is preaching God's Word and teaching only for the money get away from them. They're not of God. Turn your TV on. I'm sure you will tune into a prosperity preacher. They're everywhere!
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Be content! A real Christian will see the blessings they have and not what they could have. When your needs are met, you have a lot. Within context, the "pastors" must stay content, having faith and moving forward. They shouldn't be wanting to grow a church to make it what they want, but teach that wisdom in Truth that Truth grows within those that care enough to study.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
The focus SHOULD be on your soul, NOT your flesh. So many chose the flesh over eternity. What they can get today, instead of what holds for their tomorrow. Doing good will cover your new body in eternity, that is IF you are Christian. Doing what you believe is good without Christ is void. Doing good doesn't give life. Christ gives life. The test is to weed out evil from heaven. To be heaven, there won't be anyone there that didn't care about The Truth. Why would we want them there.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
God says to be content with these things. What you want shouldn't be your needs.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
That's ignoring God and following flesh. Most so-called "pastors" of today do this as well as most claiming to be "Christians". It's about the things of God or it's about flesh self. You're only hurting yourself by ignoring God. Your focus on the world and things of it is the way to destruction of your soul.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Money isn't evil, the desire for money is the root cause that brings the evil. We were created for Gods pleasure, not to please ourselves.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
[ IF ] you chose to be a person of God, follow the things of God. Those things will not come back void in the end.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Very sad to see so many give up on this fight. Teaching Gods Word has been the hardest job I've ever had and I have had many hard jobs. There are many things of God that humans have twisted into the things of the world. We that follow God in Truth should fight that worldly way and continue with boldness. Don't ever conform to the ways of the world. In doing so, you must let go of the things of God. Fight the good fight!
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
Our Faith is our witness. Many times we don't need to say anything, just as Christ stayed silent when Pontius Pilate asked Him to defend Himself. People want to ignore The Truth, but it is always there. It will never stop!
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Upon The Lords return everyone will see who followed Him and who rejected Him.
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
"Immortality" = that sting of death is removed from their souls. "Mortal" = liable to die, although souls will be incorruptible, only those faithful to the Lord will receive immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:50-52 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
"Uncertain riches" = "ill-gotten gains", but if you gain by righteousness it's good to give as that is righteous. True blessings come from God not self.
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Works will not ever save you. Christ is The Way to life everlasting, but what we do goes before God, written in The Book. If making money is your priority in life, no matter what you do now will not help you latter. The church is to preach helping others, not collecting for the church.
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Where is your focus? Things of the world or those things God has told us would give life FOREVER? There is no such thing as once saved always saved. Repent and change your way of thinking and living.
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
"Science" = knowledge that's speculation or a theory. Look at "climate change" what God calls seasons. That's right! What they - liberals in the US believe, It's = True Science, isn't REAL! If it won't prove their "theory" they will change the science into what they want it to be. satan will twist everything to push his agenda. Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
You can't go wrong when you follow these commandments of 1 Timothy. They're not only for the Pastors, but the whole congregation and should be applied to every generation.
