John 16

1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

Christ Jesus has warned you. If you're going to feed someone The Truth, you're going to be hated. Don't be offended by those that will reject The Word you give them.

2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

They don't have all the details looked in, but Christ had given them enough to go on up to this point. He's about to be crucified on the cross and He reminds them when it happens, they'll remember what He has taught them.

5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

They know, but they hesitate to ask Him. If you have a loved one about to go, you have a hard time talking about it.

6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

Sorrow has filled them, when joy should. They have been blessed with the opportunity to be with The Son of God, The Anointed One, sent for every soul. They've been chosen to spread the blessing of Truth. To be a part of His life, death and resurrection. They're living what was foretold.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

It was a must! Christ must go or The Comforter won't come to them, He won't come to us. Christ must die on that cross or we don't have a way to forgiveness and this life has no meaning.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

Without The Holy Spirit, direction is lost. It's The Holy Spirit that gives us the inner conviction to want to change. It's The Holy Spirit that directs us to righteous judgment.

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

"the prince of this world" = satan, has already been judge. It's over for him, that's why his spirit is so hard at work in this world. He knows he has but a short time to fool as many as possible. When he is [cast down] here, it will really get bad for those without THE TRUTH.  Rev. 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.  satan says, "See what I can make them do" Repent daily! When we fall short, we must put satan in his place. REPENT and live according to God's way.  Rev. 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.  Do you "overcome" satan by "rapture" or a bath? It's by His blood and Word we overcome satan. The Word of God is The Testimony of God.  Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.  satan comes to deceive, that's his wrath. He isn't coming to kill peoples flesh, but their soul. Trapping them into a bondage of lies.

12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Christ can't tell them in detail just how things where about to happen with His death.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

This won't happen if you don't do the work first. We must study His Word or He can't use us or guide us in His Truth.  John 14:26 He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have taught you.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ. The Holy Spirit will guide you and comfort you.

15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Do you give Him the time of day? If so, He will send you comfort, guidance, wisdom, knowledge and peace. Get to work, continue in His work and be blessed.  Romans 8:16-17  16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  As a Christian, and I mean a true Christian holding to The Truth, you will be hated by people in your life and out of your life. Don't let them see you sweat it, you will be lifted in glory together with Christ the day you die or that 7th trump.

16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

They don't understand this at the time, but He is telling them He is about to die and The Holy Spirit, The Comforter will come to them because He goes back to The Father. The Three are One.

17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

Its causing them to think a bit. They're feeling the desire to ask Him what it is He's talking about but in more detail.

20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

When they feel The Comforter come on them, they'll understand. When that veil is torn open, that all may enter to The Father, they'll understand. When Christ returns to them on that 10th day, the day of Pentecost, they will understand.

21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

When in labor, the pain is great, but once that child is born, joy is all you feel. Christ Jesus disciples anguish thinking about what is about to happen to their Lord, but because of what is about to take place, their Lord becomes their Savior, Our Savior.

22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

When He is gone, they will have The Father to talk to and anything they ask of in Christ Jesus Yahshua's name, will be given, [if] it be the will of The Father.

24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

He stands before them, to give them whatever they ask. We have been given His sacrifice and His Word. Don't waste either of them! Joy comes from knowing The Truth, that you may be full today. Eyes to see and ears to hear? Can you see and understand what you are seeing out there today? Do you understand who is coming first and why? Do you know what to watch for and are you prepared? If yes, then you know what joy is, because He has filled you with His Spirit and understanding of The Truth. If you don't know, ask in His name and get to work in His Word.

25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

They're about to come to a complete understanding.

26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

That day Christ returned to The Father is the day we started praying in Christ Jesus Yahshua's name.

27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

Christ gave it to them in a way as simple and easy to understand.

29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

The disciples believe, He IS The Son of God.

31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

Christ wants to make sure they understand what it was He was talking about. Are they going to believe in the fact He goes to The Father and will return? Are they going to pray to God in His name and be blessed by it?

32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

They had just got it and had a feeling of relief and happiness; now they hear they're going to be scattered, leaving Christ alone.

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

In Christ Jesus, The Word, is true peace of mind, because He has shown us The Way to live in this evil world, bringing us peace in troubled times. Christians are can do children of God. Christ set the standard and gave of Himself, that we may have life and have it more abundantly.  As humans, we consume many things and mostly by purchasing what we desire. The one thing every human wants, can't be purchased with anything we can create. That would be Time! Yet Christ came and died for every human soul that lives or has ever lived, giving that which we all desire, Time, Eternal life! What we hunger, if we are found accepted  because of our correct choices, that which we seek will be given, but really won't exist, because eternal life has no time. Christ Jesus Yahshua came and died, that we may live.
