Hebrews 5
1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
The leader of the church should be following The High Priest, Christ Jesus and should know the gifts of their works.
2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
A pastor should be able to help others come out from that ignorance, not put them further in it. That's the problem we have today. We are ALL sinners. This is why we have Christ Jesus to lead us out of it. The Truth will bring us out of the lies we have been told in what some may call church. God tells us to STUDY His Word, Ref. 1 Tim. 2:15. Don't EVER take my word for anything. Seek The Truth of what is said yourselves.
3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
Not one person is above repentance of their sins. Me as a Pastor to the new Christian. All must repent and in Christ Jesus Yahshua's name.
4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Hear the calling, get to work! It's never about self, but ALL about God and His Word.
5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee.
God decides!
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
"Melchisedec" = "Melcha" - "King", and "Zedek" - "of the Just" only One is The King of the Just and that is Christ Jesus Himself.
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Our Father hears us whenever we are happy or sad. He heard the cry's of Christ before the cross and He hears you now. Don't let this trip you up from the God head and earthly flesh of Christ. Focus on the context. The purpose of Christ Jesus.
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Christ came in this flesh to show us the way to live in it. There are no excuses in the end. The manual has been written. All we have to do is pick it up and read it, study it and live it.
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Condition! "all them that obey him" = Christ Jesus Yahshua. Yahshua is THE ONLY WAY to "Eternal Salvation"! The ONLY Way! The new age churches today will tell you other wise. They are on your TV every Sunday and in your city and towns. These are those you have been warned of, Matthew 7:14-15 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Christ Jesus, our High Priest!
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
Paul lets us know people won't want The Truth as they are lazy and unwilling to hear it as it's written. The people and churches are falling. You preach The Truth to people today and they will run from it. Look at Baptism. Most churches teach you must be baptized to be saved, they have left The Truth of God's Word. They preach another christ. Another way to salvation that has nothing to do with the cross. These are too lazy to study what God says and too lazy to want to stick to it.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Most of these teachers of The Word today lack meat and need to be taught themselves. If a "teacher" of God's Word doesn't know there are three levels of The Word and where it is written, they shouldn't be teaching.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
These are most "pastors" today. They just lack the knowledge of God's Word. They teach the same things over and over. Mostly salvation and tithing! They either lack The Word or are afraid of what you may think if they told you The Truth of what The Word hast to say about things.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
"Full age" isn't talking about time, but knowledge of The Word. How much have you grown in it? Can you judge correctly? Are you still on the milk? STUDY!
