1 Corinthians 12
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
Paul's going to be talking about the inner workings of the Holy Spirit, better translated those "spiritual things".
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
Without The Word of God, evil will fill the void. Even in the churches today, if you're not hearing The Word and I mean God's Word Chapter by Chapter you are hearing humans and by that false idols that bring in demonic doctrines to fool you. Ever checked out a verse for verse comparison to the "new versions?" Check out Matthew 18:11 just for one. Is it there as written in the KJV? Are you being told about an escape plan out of here before or during the "tribulation of satan?"
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.
You can't separate Christ Jesus from God, cursing either and say you follow Christ. If you truly love The Lord Christ Jesus, you love The Father and vise versa.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are many different spiritual things but one Holy Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
Many different ministries under Christ Jesus. The body of believers have different things to do making up the whole of what things need to be done.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
"all in all" God's in control! We each have a job to do and as the body we do it, but God is The One in control, seeing each spiritual thing is put in place where it needs to be to have His will be done. When someone messes up, our Father sees to it a fork is in the path, placed right in front of you. We are given a choice.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
Each gift given to an individual becomes one added to the collective that all may enjoy the rewards.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
The Spirit of God gives a person understanding of His Word were they're able to express what's said in words the other may understand. Another may take the understanding of what's said back to the spiritual side. Both are given this through The Holy Spirit.
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
Understand these "tongues" are known languages, not unknown gibber gabber some "churches" have brought in. Some have the gift of speaking more dialects than one. Today, you must have an interpreter, and that one has a gift of interpreting so you may understand what's being said.
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
Your body has many parts and those parts work together to get the job done. So is each part of the body of Christ, each member has a job to do. Continue to do yours and everyone within the body is blessed by it.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Doesn't matter who you are or where you're at, we are baptized by the blood of Christ in The Spirit of God, one body, in one mind. The only question is, do you want to be a part of Him? Today might be the last opportunity you have. We accept Jesus by faith. God saved you by His special favor when you believed. Accepting Jesus means believing that Jesus is the Son of God, who He said He is, then inviting Him to guide and direct our lives. Jesus said, "I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly". Jesus invitation to you. "I am standing at the door and I am knocking. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in". Receive Him now. Commit yourself today and trust me, Your life will change for such good and in which blessings will come. It will be in His time not our own, but the Blessings WILL come. Our Father knows our heart/minds and our intentions. Unsure of what to say? This may help. Just say: Jesus, I want to know you. I want you to come into my life. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins so that I can have life everlasting with you in my heart, giving me power to change and become the person I should be, and what you created me to be. Please forgive me of my sins. Thank you for forgiving me. I give my life to you. Please use me as you wish. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. I pray you sincerely asked Jesus into your life. Now comes a life as He has promised where He is with you. This is the beginning of a new life and personal relationship with God, our Father. What's Next? A lifelong journey of Change and Growth through the Bible which is our Father's letter to you on how to live. Pray and let our Father know you love Him. He loves to hear from us.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
Become a part of His body today †
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
Not one part is better than the other. Each one of us is as important as the other. We must work together, in one mind, everyone doing their part. 1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
A deaf person or a blind person in the physical state can be as important as any other part of the body of Christ, each with their gifts.
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
It makes it very difficult to get the job done when others have to pick up where there is a missing part.
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
Our Father sees that everything He wants accomplished get accomplished. He places the right people in the right places. It's of course a person's choice to be what they are, but He is The One to see His will is done through them.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
If the whole body was just one arm, what good could it do? It's not able to do anything but lay there.
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
We each have a duty within the body of Christ. Each job makes the whole body work for a purpose. Romans 12:4-5 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
As the body of Christ, we need everyone working together in the same mind. As a person with disabilities, other parts of my body will pick up the slack when a part isn't working correctly.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
The toes help keep the balance of the whole body when it stands. Some parts of the body are weaker than others, but can be used for Gods glory.
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
No matter what some may see as a mess, if they're part of the body, they're just as important if not more so.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.
Our Father has compensated the parts to work as one regardless of its lack of function. Christians work together and overcome together whatever may come on each one or the whole of the body.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
"schism" = Greek word σχίσμα schísma, skhis'-mah; from G4977; a split or gap ("schism"), literally or figuratively:—division, rent, schism. We shouldn't argue over things, but study, pray and come to a agreement aligned in Truth.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
We should feel sadness when one is hurting and happiness when they feel joy. We are part of them as they are of us.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Paul already told us throughout this Chapter, these gifts are separate on their own, but together make up the body.
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
Of course not.
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
We should never attempt to do something within the body that another is already doing. Your gift is yours to accomplish what needs to be done within the church. Paul lets us know the best way.
