Mark 9
1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
This would happen to them after Christ is crucified and returns after the third day. He is the kingdom, The King with His domain.
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
"Transfigured" = flesh body changed into spiritual body. The same thing happens to us at that 7th trump = trump of God unless we die before His return. I Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. If you wonder about those that have already died of this flesh, that's what 1 Thess. Chapter 4 is all about, not some ride out of here before satans tribulation.
3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
Not one thing on earth can compare to the whiteness of the appearance of Christ. Whiter and shinier than snow.
4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
Christ Jesus standing with Elijah, known as the prophet of prophets, and Moses known as The Law giver.
5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Peter wants to build monuments to them.
6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
All the disciples were scared and Peter didn't know quite what to say.
7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
Christ Jesus back in human flesh is The Only One with them now.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
Wait until after He has risen. If they had got word out it may have caused their death and they're needed to spread all they have seen and heard.
10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
Well, here we go again. They are just refusing to get it, so they'll debate it. They're not wanting to face the fact of what's about to take place.
11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
They want to know why the scribes and prophets have stated that Elijah must come first, before Christ?
12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
Christ sets them straight that things must come to pass as written. All things must be fulfilled as written and that He must suffer becoming the last sacrifice for all time.
13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
The scribes want to debate The Truth of Christ. Same as today with people. If you don't like what God says, you re-write it so you can live with it.
15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
These Kenite scribes are being questioned by Christ now.
17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
"Dumb spirit" = can't speak.
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
The disciples tried, but couldn't heal this one.
19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
We see the reason no one could heal him was because of their lack of faith.
20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
Even this evil spirit couldn't talk. We know from our studies, evil spirits know Who Christ is when confronting Him.
21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
This evil spirit has been with him since he was a child.
22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
"If thou canst" = This person has no faith. To believe = no doubts = FAITH.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
The spirit is gone and he lays there too tired to move.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
There are Good and evil spirits. Only through Christ can we come out of those evil spirits.
30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
They're trying to make it through Galilee without being seen.
31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
Christ is telling them this so they know why they shouldn't be held up in Galilee.
32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
They say they still don't get it. I believe they just don't want to face it. If it were me, I would feel the same way.
33 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
Christ wants to hear what they talked about while on their way to Capernaum. Don't think for a second He didn't already know. He just wants to hear it from their own lips.
34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.
Although each of the disciples would have their own roles and they're thinking about who would be the greatest of them all. As a Pastor, I'm not any better than any of you. As True Christians, we have Only One above all others. Christ Jesus Yahshua. We each have different roles in Christianity and each role is important, That's It!
35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
Although Christ actions were not self serving, He is The Anointed One, our Messiah, our path. He gave of Himself that we may have life. He didn't complain, He gave! Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not Him mouth.
36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
As Christians we should be ready to give of ourselves to those without The Word or without the things needed in life, then you are of God. John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? [he that hath seen me hath seen the Father;] and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
John telling Christ there's someone that's not a disciple healing in His name.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
Leave him alone! This person has faith that all things will be done by Christ.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
There is no gray area. You either follow Christ and are therefore a Christian or your not. We Christians all have a role to play in our faith. Romans 12:1-6 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
A person that doesn't gives to us isn't at risk of anything, we are at risk when we turn someone down that thirst for The Word.
42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
This isn't a part of your literal body, but one that claims to be Christian but won't change their ways within the body of Christ. Separate yourselves from them. If we allow them to continue in the church, we risk them spoiling the whole of it. What good are they if they have left or refuse The Truth? The last verse of this Chapter shows this to be true.
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
This would be the burning trash pile outside of Jerusalem.
45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Don't go looking for trouble or hang with those busy body's that do. Separate yourselves from them. Let them burn on their own.
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Those that reject The Truth that is placed before their eyes shouldn't be part of the body. Separate yourselves from them.
48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.
Fire will be the test in the end. Those that overcome the flames are worthy.
50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
Don't you think there's enough sugar in the churches today. True love is also tough love when needed. When we live in Truth there is peace of mind. Peace with same thought.
