2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
That's The Only Way to have any favor and peace in this world. It's through The Word of God. Without it you are lost in the world.
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
God has given you power over the world. Use it! His Word is The Manual for life.
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Only through The Word can we escape the worldly ways. It's a choice! Live in misery or peace of mind.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
"Virtue" here = strength and with strength and knowledge your ready for the battle. It's everyday in the flesh and it's for you when satan arrives. That's right! You're going to be here and for those that have the armor on, you're ready! We can handle any tribulation and especially his. You have power over his tricks. You have strength and wisdom. Remember with the armor you stand against him. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
"Temperance"=self control, "patience" is steadfastness. I'm still working on both! Much better than I was before though. As Christians we strive to become better each and everyday. Staying the same, being content within that isn't growing. It's limbo.
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
Do you know what giving is? It's when you do things for others out of the kindness of your heart, expecting NOTHING in return. Romans 12:10-13 10 Be kingly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You have been given Sight for a reason. Use it to do the work God has given you to do. When you have The Truth in you, it's there to spread, not keep to yourself. Be salt!
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Repentance is The First step. Get into The Word or you will be blind to The Truth. What good are you if you don't follow what was given?
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
STAY FOCUSED on God and His Word. [IF] you do, you will NOT fall away.
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
That gate is Christ and through Him and Him ONLY can we enter in for eternity.
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
We need God's Word EVERYDAY. It keeps things focused for this life in the flesh. It prepares us for what's about to happen. READY?
13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
Peter is saying, as long as he is around, he's going to keep bringing you The Word. As a Christian, you had better keep letting others know about The Truth and how to come out from the traps of the world and satan.
14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
Christ got a new body, Peter knows he is going to also. At the instant this body dies, you go into your new body, not a hole in the ground. 1 Thess. 4:13-15 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 1 Cor. 15:39-44 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
Peter wrote them down that we may have them today. When God works through people, it's for everyone to see and hear. His Word especially!
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
The lies are out there today like never before. REAL Christians know The Truth about Christ coming. We can't be fooled, 7th TRUMP!
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Peter's giving his personal report of the time he witnessed the "honor and glory" The Almighty Father gave to His Son. Ref. Matthew 17:1-9 1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
The three of them were on that mount of transfiguration, that's to say Peter, James and John, when they heard God speak to them.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
It's for your best, you seek God and His Word, Christ Jesus. He's The Only light in this dark world and The Only warmth for your soul.
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
It's never what you may want it to be because with God's Word there is ONLY ONE TRUTH.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
God told them what to put down for them of that time and for us of this world today. Take heed to it, time is fast running out.
