John 17

1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

We see Christ praying to our Father. This is Him talking to God. What many call "The Lord's prayer isn't, this is! He is talking directly to The God Head. Matthew 6:9-15 is [how to pray = the "manner" in which to pray], an example, without continuing repetitions.  Matthew 6:7-9  7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.  8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.  9 After [this manner] therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Christ was given, that ALL may have The Way to life. Some are given for Him, predestined for His plan. They're known as the elect of God. Both have free will and both have The Only Way to life everlasting.  Eph. 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  There are some "chosen" before this human flesh age of time, to do things at certain times in this flesh age of time. You, are chosen to be here right now at this very moment in time for a reason. Choice! Christ Jesus or the worldly way and satan. One is life everlasting, the other death. There was an age of time before this one and a reason we are placed where we are, when we are. Jeremiah was but one in the scriptures that prove their reason.  Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

They're One and by getting to know and understand Christ, The Word, you know and understand The Father. Christ Jesus was sent that we may live. Do you live?  Hebrews 2:14-15  14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.  Many walk around questioning their lives. It's because they're lost. They have no life in them. They walk in darkness. They walk in death, knowingly or unknowingly. Life eternal is through Christ Jesus ONLY!

4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Christ Jesus brought Truth and salvation to every soul on and off the earth.  Eph. 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.  The biggest gift to the world is Christ Jesus. Your heart is taken captive when you accept that gift.  Eph. 4:9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?  Before Christ ascended to heaven, He went to all those that had died since the beginning until His death. So they too would have the same choice as you and I today. The gift of life through Christ. Our Father is fair to everyone.  Eph. 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.

5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Before this flesh age in which Christ was glorified as God and not separate, living of this flesh. Here, Christ is glorified by all His Work, Word and the sacrifice He is about to give for every soul.

6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Every soul belonged to The Father, before Christ walked in this flesh. Christ manifested The Name of YHVH - God, to every flesh The Father gave to walk the earth. Those that truly follow Christ, keep His Words.

7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

Everything the Word of Christ has spoken and everything He has done, has been of God. Those that follow Him, know this of Him. Those who follow Him, know what is of Him and what is of the devil.

8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

We have no doubts and we follow Him EVERYDAY, not just an hour, one day a week. We live Him because He gives us life.

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

Those who repent and follow His instructions are His. We know He takes care of us in and out of our time of need.  Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

If you follow Christ, you are His and because you're His, your Gods. Everything you say and do in Him glorifies Him.

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

In Christ, we become Christians, we are Christ like.

12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Christians stay in The Word EVERYDAY. In His Word, we are fed and we grow. In His Word, we have strength and power, we have love and life. The son of perdition = satan, has chosen to fight everything of God and therefore will perish. Perdition = ἀπώλεια apṓleia, ap-o'-li-a; from a presumed derivative of G622; ruin or loss (physical, spiritual or eternal):—damnable(-nation), destruction, die, perdition, X perish, pernicious ways, waste, a perishing, ruin, destruction.  2 Thess. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;  CONDITION! Christ doesn't come so don't be [DECEIVED] by anyone, until "that man of sin" = satan, "that" = a particular subject, he's also known here as "the son of perdition" shows up and people fall for him. There has been one already sentenced to die, that's satan himself. He's "the son of perdition" and wherever he goes, he causes destruction to those who follow. We have been given warning to look for. The church has twisted it because of money or traditions. We must look for that abomination of desolation = satan, then watch for our Lord. That evil one is an abomination everywhere he goes and make desolate where he stands.  Matthew 24:14-16  14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.   15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)  16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:  "Abomination" = βδέλυγμα bdélygma, bdel'-oog-mah; from G948; a detestation, i.e. (specially) idolatry:—abomination. "Desolation" = ἐρήμωσις erḗmōsis, er-ay'-mo-sis; from G2049; despoliation:—desolation.  making desolate.

13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

Let's face it! The world is an evil and chaotic place today. Evil is running wild with lies and deception growing. Good is evil and evil is good. After all we see and hear, we have peace of mind in Christ Jesus, The Word and it fills our hearts with the joy He has given to us all.

14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Do you want to know if you're on the right path? You'll be hated by just about everyone. When you follow Christ Jesus, The Word, you won't find many that will agree with those things you follow. The worldly people hate what is truly good. Try teaching The Whole Word of God and see many more hate you, but with knowing The Word, you also handle it well. You know the power of The Truth.

15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

No escape plan needed when God is on your side. Kind of throws out the "rapture doctrine" doesn't. God has given us everything we need to fight the good fight. Why would you want to go anywhere when you have that kind of power against evil? Christians are strong, not weak, poor me babies. There is much work to be done, even when satan is cast to earth. Why would anyone want to go, when there's work to do.

16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

The world doesn't have any hold on Christians. TRUE Christians won't allow the world to bring conformity to their minds. As many churches fold to the worldly way, there are those that stand against the political correctness being pushed in the world. Get busy, get in The Word. Stand strong against the evils of the world. If you study The Word, you will be given sight. If you don't study, you will be blind to The Truth and will follow the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

"Sanctify" = ἁγιάζω hagiázō, hag-ee-ad'-zo; from G40; to make holy, i.e. (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate:—hallow, be holy, sanctify, to separate from profane things and dedicate to God. Only Gods Word can direct you to what is holy. To stay separate from the world, you must stay in His Word.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

We have work to do. You have a purpose and it's not to keep silent,. Its not to stay in the back of a line. Get up front and let others know The Truth. The Truth has been opened up to you for a reason and it's more than just for you.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Christ showed us The Way. He showed us how to get things done through Him, The Word. A Christian is to be Christ like.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Be Christ like and plant those seeds of Truth. Pray that they hear and receive it. That our Father waters it. That they change the way in which they live "of the world".

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Once you repent, you have changed. You're no longer carrying the sins of your past. You then go forward in His Word, carrying The Truth and freedom from the bondage that held you to the world. You became one with Christ and therefore one with God.

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

With The Word in us, we become perfected into one body in Christ Jesus and by that, in God.

24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

We know because we love Him and feel Him in our every breath. Our faith can't be swayed or bought. We know The Father created us and sent His Son to die for us, giving us life eternal.

26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

So Christ Jesus prayed to The Father giving us direction and showing us the love He has for you and me. With Him is peace and joy. Our Father loves to hear from us and see that we love Him enough to follow Him. What we do when our feet hit the floor, determines who and what we love. Is it Christ Jesus The Word or the world and satan? It's our choice freely. I so hope you chose Christ today and EVERYDAY.
