Colossians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

Paul, a sent one of Christ, not by his will but by that of Gods. Chosen and changed, Paul went forth with The Truth and thereby acquired Timothy, converting him to The Way of Christ.

2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

When you truly love, you give to He that opened your eyes to love, Christ Jesus Yahshua!

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

The Word is what brings you Truth and living it brings you peace of mind in an evil world. Continue in it and reward is waiting for you in heaven.

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

When you accept The Truth and live it, it brings forth fruit. There aren't any weeds and thorns produced by living in The Word. The weeds and thorns are already here, The Word shows you how to deal with them.

7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;

Epaphras, the teacher in the church at Colosse.

8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

As they grew in The Word, they grew in the love for one another. When you become yoked in same mind, brothers and sisters in Christ will go above and beyond for one another.

9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

If you have ever wondered why you're here, it's ALL written down for you. There are some conditions though. You must pick it up and study it. Always pray first, for The Holy Spirit to open the meanings up to you. That's where you receive understanding.

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

It takes understanding The Word to know The Way in which we should go. When we go that Way, it pleases our Father and blessings will flow. The knowledge will give you many things.

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Our Father, The Creator of you and me has blessed us with another day. He sent His Son, that you can have that inheritance and live in peace today and forever. GIVE HIM THANKS!

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Accepting The Son shines the light on the darkness = satan, making clear the old ways, illuminating The Way.

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

"Redemption" ἀπολύτρωσις apolýtrōsis, ap-ol-oo'-tro-sis; from a compound of G575 and G3083; (the act) ransom in full, i.e. (figuratively) riddance, or (specially) Christian salvation:—deliverance.

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Christ Jesus being before any creation seen or unseen.

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Everything seen and unseen was created for His pleasure.

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

We are parts of Him. Without Christ, we wouldn't be Christians, He is The Head, without Christ we would just be blind walking elements of earth. Made of dust and back to dust without hope.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

The Father sent The Son, part of Himself. Through Him life would be eternally given. God created life, God is The Son.  Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:  1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

The ransom is paid in full. We who believe in that sacrifice and then follow Christ Jesus are now delivered.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.

By your sins, you alienate yourself from God. By your thoughts, have you twisted things around to do what is evil. Yet God sent us The Way out of that darkness and into The Light, Christ Jesus.

22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

ONLY through Christ

23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

[ IF ] = condition! If you continue your FAITH in Christ, you'll be "presented holy, unblameable and unreproveable" to Him.

24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

Paul received many more things against him then we do today. He was beaten, stoned and dragged out for dead because I believe he was dead. You know how he overcame those things? He stood strong in Christ. Christians are can do people of God. There is NOTHING we can't handle in The Light of Christ. He Gives us power over it all.  2 Corinthians 11:25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;  2 Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. Paul could get it done only because of his faith in Christ and so can you.

25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

Paul, called to be a minister by Jesus Christ Himself and by such giving you and me the accounts of The life of Christ and the teachings He left for us to follow. In following, we have stewardship with Christ when serving Him. He is The head of the house and see to it He is being taught. "Dispensation" οἰκονομία oikonomía, oy-kon-om-ee'-ah; from G3623; administration (of a household or estate); specially, a (religious) "economy":—dispensation, overseer, head of the house.

26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

If you don't understand this or what I'm about to tell you. Put it on a shelf. That's why He says its a "mystery" hid, but is understood by His saints, His Elect. God will open it to you when the time is right. There was a period of time before this one. It's not a mystery to those this has been opened to. satan turned from God and took 1/3 of God's children with him, so God destroyed the first earth age bringing about this flesh age and The Way to salvation through Christ Jesus.  2 Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were [from the beginning of the creation.]  Notice here, "from the beginning of the creation" = first earth age.  2 Peter 3:5  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: This was in the first age and in the creation story. Gen. 1:6-7  6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.  7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.  This goes hand in hand with 2 Peter Ch. 3:6-7  6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:  7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. "Which are now" is this flesh age, the second age. "The day of judgment" is in the third age. Each of us born innocent with free will to chose the world and satan or Christ Jesus and life everlasting. He wants us to chose Him, but He isn't going to force us. His love is in His patience.  2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. "Age" αἰών aiṓn, ahee-ohn'; from the same as G104; properly, an age; by extension, perpetuity (also past); by implication, the world; specially (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):—age, course, eternal, (for) ever(-more), (n-)ever, (beginning of the , while the) world (began, without end). Compare G5550. [period of time].

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Only In Christ, can we have the riches and glory God gives.

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

There are those who strive to perfection and there is only one way to that perfection. Through Christ Jesus The Only Perfect One.

29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Don't let the world get you down or fool you into the twisting of right and wrong. Stay focused, stay in The Word.  Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
