1 Timothy 2

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Prayer is what a real Church will start with. "Supplications" is "deesis" in Greek and is a petition for needs. Prayer shows your faith in God. "Intercession" = that we approach God in confidence.

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

We should pray for the good and the bad leaders. I know, it's hard to do, but as Christians, we should ask our Father to shake them up that they do what is right. We should also keep in mind today the time we are in and the purpose of what is to be. If you know God's Word, you also know what these "leaders" are to do. Many are to do evil to accomplish the things to bring an end to this age. God puts them in the place for people to put them as the leaders. It doesn't mean to vote them in, evil will do that for you.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Pray and here we have both offices of the Godhead in one name, "God our Saviour" our Father being the Savior through the Son.

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

That's "God our Saviour"

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

This isn't a religion, it's the ONLY reality there is for everyone. One Way and Christ Jesus Yahshua is He. Those throughout time have created many different religions with many different means of getting what they want. From buddha to mohammad, from money to a laughing "church", they want nothing to do with God. This doesn't change the FACT that God is creator of the world and time and Christ Jesus is The Way to salvation for eternity.

6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Christ was the "ransom" for you. For those that have had enough of the world, the "due time" is now. Repent and change!

7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

Paul was "ordained" = "appointed to do something". An "apostle" is one that is sent for by God. Acts 9:15-16  15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:  16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for My name's sake.

8 I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

"Wrath" = "disputing" This disputing is not with one another but with the Word of God. This "spirit of disputing" is in those that are lacking understanding of the Word of God.

9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

"Modest apparel" = "a becoming manner", "broided hair" = Paul's day the prostitutes spent so much time [braiding] their hair for market. Too much "bling" shows your heart. It's not for God, but for show and self.

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Use good judgment and wear what properly protects your character and credibility. This goes for everyone, not just women.

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

You must apply the common sense God gives you to this. There is no gender or age in this because EVERYONE should be silent when being taught God's Word.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Just as with anyone, we should be silent and listen before anyone can teach. Debra was what today we would call a college professor. There were many woman teachers.  Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

A man should stay in the role of a man as a woman should be in the role of the woman. Each gender has a purpose. If your wife knows more of God's Word then the man, then the woman has the right to be the spiritual leader of the house. That has nothing to do with the role of what a man should be or a woman.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

This is an example of who is following God. That one to do so would be the spiritual leader of the household. Adam still knew better and yet went along with her. A REAL church will teach you what happened in the garden. It has nothing to do with an apple tree.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Eve, the mother of all living = through her would come Christ Jesus and she would be saved just as EVERYONE from the beginning to the end that chose Him would be.
