2 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

All three offices of YHVH. Our Father, The Son Jesus and The Holy Spirit, our Comforter.

4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

A believer and follower of Christ are comforted of God and able to comfort those who suffer.

5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Not one person is living without some kind of problem. They may look like everythings peachy, but everyone has tribulations in this flesh. Christians have Christ and with Him, peace of mind. Let them know your peace and they can have it too.

6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

As Christians, our tribulations build us into someone greater than ourselves. What we endure helps us become stronger Christians and by so help others see the comfort God gives us.

7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

So every time there is trouble, God will see there is comfort.

8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

When Paul was building the churches in Asia, they were under great pressure, surrounded by evil wanting them dead. Paul's telling the Corinthians, they don't know troubles like that, but God showed them the way to get things done and they knew He was with them. Faith

9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

We knew in ourselves, without Christ in us we were already dead, but our Father shows us The Way to life, all we need to do is accept Him. Then with our growth in Truth and our faith we know our Father protects us and His will be done in all things. He sent His Son for us all.

10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

11 Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

These intercessory prayers were heard by our Father. After all, prayer is talking to our Father and just like any other parent, He loves to hear from us. Paul thanks everyone that prayed for them.

12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

Our Father doesn't care how big your vocabulary is, He wants to hear your heart for Him, He wants to hear the sincerity of your thoughts. You can never fool God, so don't fool yourself.

13 For we write none other things unto you, that what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;

Paul taught them, the Corinthians The Truth and he wishes for them to stick to it. Don't let things of the world separate you from The Truth. We had better know the difference because there are many today that say things are of God but they lie. They're twisting God's Word in their teachings, so be careful, STUDY.

14 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are our's in the day of the Lord Jesus.

15 And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;

Paul had heard of the divisions and incest taking place in their church and he wanted to come back sooner so they could refresh their minds in The Truth.

16 And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.

He was thinking about passing through Corinth on his way to Macedonia.

17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?

Paul didn't teach them to conform to the worldly ways while applying God's Word. We aren't to be reeds in the wind, blowing whichever way it takes us. We are to be salt, strong in our stance for The Truth.

18 But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.

Paul taught The Truth without wavering. He didn't change his mind of what God says. The Truth is Truth or everything is a lie.

19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

The Truth and nothing but The Truth

20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

"Amen" is "That Is That" and with our Father's Word, you can count on Him. He isn't changing His mind about anything He has told us and neither is Paul or those he has sent.

21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

God sent Paul and God anointed Paul and the others that keep and spread The Truth of God's Word. Not one person of church denomination establishes or anoints a person to teach God's Word, Only God. Many so called "pastors" won't like that FACT. It takes the power away that [they believe] they have.

22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

God gives us understanding and He seals our minds in His Truth. We do the work to seek it and He is earnest or guarantees we receive it. If you think you'll get something without doing the work you're living in a demonic mind set. That's the way of the worldly, not the Godly. Do the work, reap the rewards.

23 Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.

As God as Paul's witness for those in Corinth. He is speaking The Truth when he teaches them.

24 Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

If you earnestly stand with God, you seek His Word in your daily studies, then God will help you in understanding, growing your faith, bringing peace of mind whenever trouble arises. Get to work and ENJOY
